WeVote collaborated with the youth arm of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to spread voter awareness and education to thousands or young people.
Every year (first week in August), over 10,000 youths and millions of adult christian faithfuls gather to camp for one week at Redemption Camp, the headquarters of RCCG in Ogun state. The RCCG convention is arguably the largest gathering of christian faithfuls in Nigeria. WeVote collaborated with Pastors Seed Fellowship (PSF) to set up voter registration desks at the RCCG convention this year.
We set up registration desks at the Youth and Teens Centres of the camp to spread voter awareness and register hundreds of young people and first time voters over a period of 4 days. We also addressed the mammoth crowd of young people on civic responsibility and the need to register and vote in coming elections.
The project was a success, thanks to the Lagos state volunteers who showed up to support.
